In Honor of election day, let's talk about something other than Mitt and Bams (what else is there to say really?) Instead let's talk about Medicinal Marijuana, because why not?
18 states have legalized medical marijuana, and they have almost all chosen to spell it “marihuana” in their statutes -- which is confusing but beside the point. Anyway, we’ve put together this handy chart so, if you ever find yourself in one of these states and suffering from glaucoma, you’ll know just what to do.
Particular stand-outs here are obviously Oregon and Washington, who both allow people to have up to 24 oz of that sticky icky medically sanctioned cannabis. In case you’re curious, that’s about this much:
I think that’ll probably be enough to help with your anxiety/migraines/glaucoma/intractable pain.
In addition to the 18 states that have already legalized medical mary-j, 6 more have laws pending, in no particular order, they are:
- New York
First off, yes, I lied they were in a particular order - whatever. Second, noticing any trends here? Let’s have a look at a map - the red ones have no plans to legalize, dark green is already legal, and light green is pending:
Look familiar at all? Let me jog your memory.

Oh heeeeyyy, that does look pretty similar, doesn’t it?
What do all y’all think? Should there just be a federal law to legalize it? Or is weed an evil drug that has such dangerous side effects as eating too much Cap’n Crunch and laughing at jokes that aren’t funny. Okay, seriously though.
